Starting the Development Party

First posts are always daunting. So much weight falls on this is the first post ever!

Regardless of all of that. Nice to meet you - I'm Rach - and this is my dev blog.

If you've popped over to my about section you'll already know that I am in the process of self-teaching myself front-end web development. Tech - and some programming - isn't new to me but gathering all the necessary pieces in order to turn my career into one of development is. So here is my journey.

As much as transparency is difficult I truly believe in it. We all share struggles and there are many of you out there who are also self taught and you are sitting on the other side of this journey - firstly, CONGRATS - secondly, got a tether? Either way this isn't a flash race to the end - this is something I want to solidly build into my life officially - like i've been trying to do for the past 20 years.

I'm dodging life curveballs but I am grateful that the further I dig into programming the further I realized that I really do love it, I'm excited to chance this career, and I'm excited to connect with folks along the way. I have always loved programming. That in itself is motivation to press on.

The current focus is vanilla JavaScript as it's my weakest link (I already have a pretty firm handle on HTML and CSS). I will be sitting here a while though. Not only do I love JavaScript (with all it's quirks) but I want to be a fluent and efficient developer in JS, React, React Native, Node etc....that's my jam.

So I am trying to not let myself get too ahead - even though I want to keep learning. This is time to buckle in and drill those JS basic's until they are fluid and easy.

If you've stopped by I'd love to know where you are at in your journey? What are your wins? What are your struggles?
